He rides the storm,
Its driving rains,
Howling winds,
And violent thunder.
Upon him in an instant,
Promising to never end,
No hint of any respite.
Waves crashed upon the bow,
He faced the storm alone,
The icy wind ripped through his skin,
To the point he almost bled.
The lightning flashed,
Cracked and streaked,
Reflected in his eyes,
This storm had raged a thousand years,
And now it met its match.
The storm had clogged his mind,
His memories all but faded,
His fists clenched in sheer defiance,
Though his heart's severely jaded.
The roar of wind that lashed upon him,
Could not match the roar within,
The pain,
The hurt,
The unbridled hate,
The things he'd crushed inside.
This storm was nothing,
It had raged for so long,
Ten thousand years in the making,
It would not suffice.
The rain would not drown him,
The wind could not break,
There was nothing left for him to forsake;
The fire within.
The fire within started to turn,
A voice through the howling,
One lonely voice;
You know it cannot end.
And the fire turned more.
To see his eyes in the dark,
In the height of the storm,
Would you know he was crying?
Could you tell he was torn?
Would you even know why?
You lock eyes for an instant,
And feel your heart break,
He has nothing to say,
There is no reason for him to.
You struggle for breath,
Like there is a weight on your chest,
Your eyes are still locked,
Completely transfixed.
You've entered his nightmare,
The one that is real;
His eyes break away,
To see something unknown,
The weight lifts from your chest,
How can one look bring you so close to death?
You wince through the wind,
Through the driving rain,
Desperately trying to see what he sees,
To hear what he hears.
The earth tilts below you,
The ocean throws you high,
And yet he does not move,
His gaze is fixed ahead.
Is no one in command?
Is no one in control?
Then Violent storm is frozen,
The ocean turned to ice,
The south wind holds his breath,
The rain hangs upon the sky.
And amongst it all,
He just stood,
Without fear,
Without hope,
Without anything.
From him came the fire that silenced the great storm;
And with that he leaves you,
He simply walks away,
Across a frozen ocean,
To a place beyond your dreams.
He does not turn around,
Maybe he will never turn back,
Wonder how you got here,
Wonder at what you found.
Maybe it was not for your eyes,
Maybe you cannot go back,
Your a long way from home here,
A long way from nowhere,
And no idea of whats to come.
